Earth would most definitely be a big ball of nothing if not for the sun. It provides our planet with needed light and heat. Though, it does provide other things that are not so helpful. Like harmful Ultraviolet Rays. This type of light can cause premature aging or skin cancer. It you are the outdoors-type chances are you already slap on sunscreen with UV protection before leaving the house. Though, there are other products (like binoculars ) that also utilize this UV coating. Since the objective lens of the binocular collects the light it is also collecting these UV rays.
